Clifford Derrick
Cameraman, South Africa. In Crisis.
2008 Rory Peck finalist Clifford Derrick was forced to flee Kenya when he was discovered infiltrating a pro-government militia for a news report. He was tortured for three hours and left fearing for his safety.
Clifford was finding it difficult to move on with his life when he asked the Trust for help. He had fled Kenya for South Africa where he was living in a squat in a dangerous area of Johannesburg with this wife and new born daughter.
The Trust has given Clifford a grant to help him find a safe apartment for himself and his family and to cover the costs of much-needed counselling. Through our contacts in South Africa we were able to refer him to a locally based expert in trauma.
